The mission of the Department of Public Services (DPS) is to maintain the major road system and rights-of-way in such a manner as to ensure safety for vehicular and pedestrian traffic as well as to present an attractive roadside environment. Additionally, the DPS facilitates the development, maintenance, and operation of the local street system through accepted engineering standards in order to meet the community’s need for a safe, efficient, and cost-effective local street system.
The City of Rochester Hills currently owns and operates over 37 miles of major roads and the DPS coordinates improvements with Oakland County’s and the State of Michigan’s road systems located within City limits in accordance with State Act 51 of the Public Acts of 1951 as amended.
