Light weight turkish towel from the Tokyo Station Hotel. It's off-white with red thread woven into a banding at both edges. Edges are fringed. Japanese characters are painted in blue on the ends. Printed in English on the towel is "for Guest Room, Tokyo Station Hotel" |

From Alice Serrell, attached to accession sheet:
"This is where they were when the earthquake hit. It was 1 of the 2 undamaged buildings left in Tokyo, the other was the Imperial Hotel. Both were designed by Frank Llyod Wright. 1923" _________________________________________________________________________ Alice Van Hoosen Jones, Sarah Van Hoosen Jones & Dr. Bertha Van Hoosen stayed at the Tokyo Station Hotel during the September 1923 earthquake. The Tokyo Station and Imperial Hotel, both designed by Frank Llyod Wright, were the only 2 undamaged buildings.
